MORRIS — Junior goalkeeper Antonio Hueramo recorded six saves as the Rochelle Hub varsity soccer team shut out Morris on Wednesday for its first Interstate 8 win this season.
Senior forward Alberto Casillas and senior midfielder Fernando Diaz each scored two goals for the Hubs, who rolled over the Redskins 6-0 on the road. Junior forward Kevin Orozco and senior midfielder Bryan Garcia both added one goal for the Hubs (5-5-1, 1-2 Interstate 8), who will travel for the Belvidere Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Junior midfielder Heilly Zepeda and sophomore forward Danny Garcia each recorded an assist to aid the Rochelle offense.
The Hubs capitalized on their scoring chances, netting six goals despite the Redskins holding an 11-8 advantage in shots on goal during the match. Casillas scored in the fifth minute, giving Rochelle a 1-0 lead before Garcia assisted Diaz in the 31st minute to keep the offense rolling. Casillas and Diaz connected for a goal in the 40th minute to put the Hubs up 3-0 at halftime.
Casillas completed his brace with a goal in the 60th minute. Rochelle sealed its win with two goals near the end of the match, taking a 6-0 lead after Zepeda found Orozco for a goal in the 68th minute and Garcia blasted a goal into the Morris net during the 73rd minute.
