ROCHELLE — Hope Chest in Rochelle recently thanked Rochelle Township High School student Becca Norris for her volunteer work over the past two years.

Norris’s work included sorted and hanging kids clothes. Hope Chest, the “twice-loved boutique,” is an upscale thrift store. All of its proceeds support HOPE of Ogle County, a domestic violence prevention and support agency.

Becca is part of the STEP (secondary transitional experience program) offered by the Ogle County Educational Cooperative. The program provides work experience, vocational training and career planning for high school-age students in special education. Students receive credit and a grade for their participation in the STEP program.

The coordinator for the STEP program is Toby Luxton and Becca’s job coach is Mary Ann. Walter.
