Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Feb. 9-13, 2024

On Feb. 9 at around 3:18 p.m. deputies responded to the area of South Skare Road and East Hemstock Road for the report of a two-vehicle accident. When deputies arrived there were two vehicles in the northwest ditch, a gold Chevy and a black Chevy. After a brief investigation it was learned that the gold Chevy, driven by Jerome Wysocki, 75, of Rochelle, was traveling westbound on East Hemstock Road. The black Chevy, driven by Maylene Carreno, 35, of Mt. Morris, was traveling northbound. Wysocki stopped at the stop sign then proceeded into the intersection to continue west bound at which time the gold and black Chevys collided in the intersection. Wysocki was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries and he was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Carreno and Wysocki's minor passengers were uninjured.

After a brief investigation it was learned that the gold Chevy, driven by Jerome Wysocki, 75, of Rochelle, was traveling westbound on East Hemstock Road. The black Chevy, driven by Maylene Carreno, 35, of Mt. Morris, was traveling northbound. Wysocki stopped at the stop sign then proceeded into the intersection to continue west bound at which time the gold and black Chevys collided in the intersection. On Feb. 10 at approximately 1:11 a.m. deputies investigated a vehicle parked in the roadway near the intersection of Mulford Road and Baseline Road. After further investigation Sarah Thuestad, 44, of Rochelle, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Thuestad was also cited for illegal parking on the roadway. Thuestad was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was released on a notice to appear.

On Feb. 10 at 1:01 a.m. deputies with the assistance of the Oregon Police Department, conducted a traffic stop at Hill Street and Gale Street in Oregon. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Tiffany Hedrick, 45, of Oregon, for driving while license suspended and possession of a controlled substance. Hedrick was transported to the Ogle County Jail. Hedrick was subsequently released with a notice to appear. Hedrick was additionally issued a citation for improper lane usage.

On Feb. 10 at approximately 4:48 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of West 3rd Street in Leaf River. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Lindsay A. Horton, 39, Dixon, for driving while license was revoked. Horton was additionally issued citations for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration. Horton was issued a notice to appear and released on scene.

On Feb. 10 at approximately 8:22 p.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop as a vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Mt. Morris Dollar General store.  After further investigation Shane Nielsen, 40, of Oregon, was placed under arrest for driving while license revoked. Nielsen was also cited for an equipment violation.  Nielsen was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released on a notice to appear.

On Feb. 11 at approximately 1:01 a.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Freeport Road and U.S. Route 52. After further investigation Keith Shomaker, 29, of Freeport, was placed under arrest for no valid driver's license. Shomaker was also cited for an equipment violation. Shomaker was released on a notice to appear.

On Feb. 13 at approximately 5:04 a.m. Robert L. Cook, 33, of Rochelle turned himself in on an outstanding Ogle County failure to appear warrant. Cook posted bond and was released with no return court date.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
