On May 16 at 4:44 p.m. Ronald Bandy, 48, of Freeport was arrested for driving under the influence after deputies responded to the 4,000 block of Illinois Route 2 for a motorcycle crash. It was learned that Bandy was traveling north on Illinois Route 2, failed to navigate a curve and lost control coming to rest on the west bank of the Rock River. Bandy was transported to Swedish American Hospital by Byron Fire for minor injuries. Bandy was also cited for driving on the shoulder and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Bandy was released at the hospital and will appear in court on July 2 at 9 a.m. Deputies were assisted on scene by Oregon and Byron Fire. The accident remains under investigation.
