Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Nov. 9-11

On Nov. 9 at 5:09 p.m. deputies and Oregon Fire and EMS responded to the area of 900 N. River Rd. for the report of a vehicle that left the roadway and entered the Rock River. After an investigation, it was determined Daniel Boyden, 30, of Oregon was traveling southbound on River Road in his Volkswagen Jetta when he lost control of his vehicle. Boyden was able to escape the vehicle and swim back to shore. Boyden was transported to KSB Hospital by Oregon EMS for precaution. At KSB Hospital, Boyden was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Boyden was released on a signature I-Bond. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to prevent an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

OREGON — On Nov. 9 at 5:09 p.m. deputies and Oregon Fire and EMS responded to the area of 900 N. River Rd. for the report of a vehicle that left the roadway and entered the Rock River. On Nov. 10 at approximately 11:30 a.m. deputies with the assistance of the Illinois State Police and Rochelle Fire/EMS responded to the 14,000 block of East Illinois Route 64 for a two-vehicle accident involving a 2006 Hyundai Accent and a 2007 Ford Freestyle. Upon conducting an investigation, it was learned the Ford driven by Beth Benedetto slowed down to turn into a private address and was rear ended by the Hyundai driven by Linda Keane. Keane was transported the Swedish American Hospital in Rockford for injuries. Keane was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. 

On Nov. 10 at 11:08 a.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Kishwaukee Road and Meridian Road. After an investigation, it was found that a maroon Chevrolet HHR, driven by Ashley E. Kramer, 32, of Rockford, was northbound on Kishwaukee Road when the vehicle suffered a mechanical failure. The vehicle exited the roadway and struck a culvert at that location. Kramer was transported to Swedish American Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. The passenger in the vehicle, Brittany D. Vyas 27, of Rockford, refused medical treatment at the scene. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Nielsen's Towing and no citations were issued.

On Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. deputies responded to a disturbance at the Creston Casey's involving an intoxicated male. Investigation by deputies revealed that Arturo Pena, 22, of Rochelle had battered a family member and then entered a vehicle without permission from the vehicle's owner. Pena was arrested by deputies for domestic battery and criminal trespass to a motor vehicle. Pena was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.
