ROCHELLE — Rochelle police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man wanted in an attempted robbery at the Road Ranger located at 1101 N. Seventh Street in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 5.

At 2:21 a.m. Sunday, the Rochelle Police Department responded to a Road Ranger in reference to an attempted robbery.

Officers were advised that a black male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt had allegedly entered the store and gone behind the counter, attempting to obtain gain access to the cash register. The employee had been outside the store when the suspect made entry. The suspect was unable to obtain any cash or other items.

The victim stated the suspect implied he had a gun; however, no gun was observed. The victim stated the suspect fled the area in a black Chrysler automobile.

Officers were able to locate a black Chrysler, with Illinois temporary registration, matching the suspect vehicle, and performed an investigative stop on Interstate 39, where they met with the driver, identified as Aljandros La Castile. Castile matched the description of the suspect, and advised he had been at Road Ranger; however, denied attempting to steal anything, or being behind the counter.

As officers were attempting to check the Road Ranger video, La Castile fled the stop. Officers did not engage in pursuit of the vehicle due to Castile being positively identified.

Officers were able to view the Road Ranger surveillance video and positively identify Castile as the subject who entered Road Ranger and going behind the counter.

A warrant was obtained Monday with the assistance of the Ogle County State’s Attorney’s office, for the arrest of Aljandros La Castile in the amount of $10,000, for the charges of attempted aggravated robbery and obstructing a peace officer.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of La Castile are asked to call the Rochelle Police Department at 815-562-2131 or the Ogle-Lee Crime Stoppers at 1-888-228-4488.
