MENDOTA — Junior forward Kevin Orozco and senior midfielder Fernando Diaz each scored goals for the Rochelle Hub varsity soccer team during Wednesday’s match against Mendota.
Orozco found the net during the 25th minute, while Diaz cashed in during the 80th and final minute as the Hubs fell against the Trojans 6-2 in nonconference action. Junior goalkeeper Antonio Hueramo recorded nine saves for the Hubs (2-3, 0-0 Interstate 8), who fell behind early after Mendota scored back-to-back goals over the fourth and fifth minutes to take a 2-0 lead.
The Trojans extended their lead in the 23rd minute before Orozco’s goal brought Rochelle back within a two-score deficit. Mendota answered in the 31st minute to command a 4-1 halftime advantage over the Hubs, who conceded goals in the 56th and 79th minutes. Mendota outshot Rochelle 16-10 and held a 15-5 advantage over the Hubs in shots on goal.
