CAPRON — The Rochelle Hub varsity golf team continued its winning ways with a new season-best showing on Thursday evening, when the purple and white faced the Oregon Hawks and the North Boone Vikings in a nonconference match at Beaver Creek Golf Course.
Junior Ian Metzger recorded five birdies and fired a 1-under-par 34, while sophomore Alex Dyer carded a 3-over-par 38 as the Hubs defeated both the Hawks and the Vikings with a season-low score of 156. Oregon finished with 172 to take second and North Boone totaled 188 for third.
Sophomore Owen Carmichael and senior Chris Hickey each turned in scores of 44 to round out the top four players for the Hubs (7-1, 2-0 Interstate 8) on Thursday. Rochelle will be back in action Saturday, when the Hubs compete in the Brad Fowler Invitational at Aldeen Golf Club.
