Truck goes into river

On Dec. 22 at 11:40 a.m., the Ogle County Sheriff’s Police responded to a truck in the Rock River with one occupant.  This was in the 10,900 block of North Illinois Route 2. The driver was helped from his truck and later taken to Swedish American Hospital for treatment.  The driver was identified as Roger Durham, 65, of Rockford. The Byron Fire Department and Maggios assisted at the scene while Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police and Byron Police Assisted with traffic control. The investigation is pending.

On Dec. 20 at approximately 1:24 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 9500 block of E. Illinois Route 64. Upon further investigation, deputies arrested Christopher N. Rollin, 44, of Rochelle, for driving while license suspended.  Rollins was released on an Individual Bond and set a return court date.  Rollin was also cited for speeding in excess of 35 m.p.h. over the speed limit.

On Dec. 22 at 8:20 p.m., deputies stopped a 2006 Jeep on Interstate 39 at milemarker 109 northbound for speeding. After a short investigation, deputies arrested Donald Johnson, 24, of DeKalb, for driving while license suspended. Johnson was released on scene and will appear in court on Feb. 3.
