CRESTON — The Creston Road Bridge over I-39 was opened Monday afternoon to one lane with temporary traffic signals. According to IDOT bridge engineers, bids will be let this fall to contractors with work to be completed in early 2019. The cost of the repair is estimated at $2 million.
The bridge had been closed since May of 2017 when a truck struck the overpass in the northbound lane. City engineer Sam Tesreau said the work will be paid through state funding and eventually recouped from the offending truck driver’s insurance company.
