The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub varsity cross country teams competed in the Larry Eddington Invitational at Kaneland High School on Saturday. The Hubs finished 18th out of 18 schools with 529 points, while the Lady Hubs took 14th out of 15 schools with 361 points.

MAPLE PARK — The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub varsity cross country teams competed in the Larry Eddington Invitational at Kaneland High School on Saturday. The Hubs finished 18th out of 18 schools with 529 points, while the Lady Hubs took 14th out of 15 schools with 361 points.

Senior Sara Johnson set a new personal record by 11 seconds, placing 35th out of 124 varsity runners with a time of 21:25.36. Junior Yuelma Ortiz finished 45th with a time of 21:45.23. Junior David Wanner ran the fastest time for the Hubs, clocking in at 18:55.08 for 115th place. Seniors Josue Huerta and Peter Forsberg finished with times of 19:30.88 and 20:08:81.

“This race gave us a chance to get a better view of the course for our conference meet,” head coach Mark Zilis said. “Most of our runners ran well, with five athletes setting new personal records for 3 miles and a few more runners recording their best times of the season.”

Junior Thomas Koziol ran a time of 21:45.73 and senior Max Orlikowski ended the race with a time of 24:15.72. Juniors Karina Lopez and Gisselle Robles finished with respective times of 27:12.51 and 27:13.10 for the Lady Hubs. Rochelle’s cross country teams will race next at the Byron Invitational on Wednesday.

Fresh/Soph

The Rochelle Hub fresh-soph team placed 14th out of 16 schools with 393 points. Sophomore Parker Lenkaitis finished 61st with a time of 19:49.78 and sophomore Alex Burke took 87th with a time of 21:16.33. Freshman Chris Hickey placed 96th with a time of 21:37.32.
