ROCHELLE — If you purchased a Mega Millions lottery ticket for Tuesday’s drawing at the Shell gas station on Rochelle’s south side, you might want to check it.
The Illinois Lottery just announced the station sold the winning ticket that matched all five numbers: 07, 25, 43, 56, 59.
After verifying with the Illinois Lottery officials, Shell manager Patricia Hansen could hardly contain her excitement.
“I’m so excited for whoever got it!” Hansen said. “I’m so happy.”
The winning Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers to win the million dollar prize.
The retailer will receive one percent of the prize amount of $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Shell employee Sue Bresley also expressed her excitement for the winner, adding she typically gets a comment from people when they purchase their lottery tickets.
“I always hear the comment ‘If I win anything big I’ll come back here and give you some of my winnings’,” Bresley said. “We hear that a lot.”
Either way, someone will be a happy camper when they find out.
The Illinois Lottery said the winner has a year from the original drawing date to claim their prize, urging the lucky winner to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until they visit one of the Lottery’s five prize centers in Chicago, Des Plaines, Rockford, Springfield, or Fairview Heights.
