The Rochelle Area Track Club held the 44th Annual RATC Invitational at Rochelle Township High School on Saturday.

The Rochelle Chamber of Commerce recently presented its Lawn of the Week award for the week of June 14 to Ted and Vonnie Wilkinson. They received a sign and a $25 Rochelle ACE Hardware gift card, presented by Rochelle Ace Hardware Manager Jesse Lopez.

City of Rochelle Public Works Director Tim Isley has announced a road closure in the 800 block of North 6th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue for a stormwater repair.

On June 11 at approximately 6:45 p.m. deputies received a complaint of a possible battery which had occurred within the 1,000 block of South Lowell Park Road. The alleged battery stemmed from a road-rage incident. At approximately 6:58 p.m. deputies located two motorcycles involved in the incident near the intersection of Fourth Street and Washington Street in Oregon. A traffic stop was initiated, and after further investigation the driver of one of the motorcycles, Terry Cushing, 42, of Rock Falls, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended. Cushing was also cited for violation of license classification.  The driver of the other motorcycle, Joshua Kobbeman, 42, of Tampico, was cited for improper display of registration. Cushing was released at the scene on a notice to appear.

On June 11 at 11:37 a.m. Kenneth W. Ewenson, 63, of Wilmington was cited for overweight on scale. He was released on a notice to appear with a July 12 Rochelle court date.

Three Ogle County Emergency Response Team members and one barricaded suspect were shot late Wednesday morning at a residence in Lost Nation in the rural Dixon area and survived after being transported to area hospitals, Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle said in a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Confidence wasn’t an issue for Rochelle Township High School senior Kayla Ortega when she tried out for the cheerleading team at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this past month.

Serving and receiving are two areas of emphasis for the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity volleyball team as the program begins its summer schedule this offseason.

At its meeting Monday, the Rochelle City Council unanimously approved a bid, possible change order allowance and the use of motor fuel tax (MFT) and Rebuild Illinois (RBI) funds for a Steward Road pavement improvement project.

On Friday, a grand opening event was held for Luna at 531 S. 7th St. in Rochelle. The event included a ribbon cutting, appetizers & drinks, and live music. 

On June 7 at 10:55 p.m. Pedro R. Basulto, 40, of DeKalb was arrested for possession of controlled substance. He was released on a notice to appear with a July 12 Ogle County court date.

On June 7 at approximately 9:51 a.m. deputies responded to the intersection of East Illinois Route 72 and Marrill Road for a two-vehicle accident with injuries. After a brief investigation it was discovered that Jennifer Marshall, 33, of Stillman Valley, was operating a dark green Jeep and failed to yield a stop sign with oncoming traffic. The green Jeep was then struck by an oncoming Chevrolet Avalanche at the intersection. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to St. Anthony Hospital for suspected minor injury. Marshall was transported to Swedish American for minor injury. Marshall was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage. The Ogle County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Byron Fire Department and Stillman Valley Fire Department.

God called Ron Dean, 80, of Ashton, IL home on Sunday, June 9, 2024, after a series of complications from cancer.

Robert Lee of Rochelle served in the United States Army from 1958-1960 as a maintenance supply clerk in the 555th Engineer Brigade.

Shooting and ball handling are among the top priorities for second-year head coach Jon Gehm and his staff as the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity basketball team returns to the hardwood for the start of its summer schedule, which tipped off with its first open gym Monday.

The Rochelle Rampage 13U baseball team went 4-0 over four games to win the 2024 Feed the Need Tournament at the HCC Complex from June 8-9. Rochelle won two games on Saturday, June 8 before collecting two more victories on Sunday, June 9.
