The Rochelle Hub varsity baseball team split its nonconference doubleheader Saturday afternoon, when the purple and white traveled west to take on the Dixon Dukes.

A four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning was the highlight of the Rochelle Hub varsity baseball team’s Interstate 8 Conference series finale against Ottawa on Friday.

On May 8 at 9:33 a.m. Benjamin D. Piper, 23, of Dixon was arrested for driving while license suspended and for an outstanding Lee County warrant. Piper was also cited for violating class first division vehicle/motorcycle, expired registration, and improper display of registration. He was released on a notice to appear with a June 7 Rochelle court date. For the Lee County warrant, he was released on a notice to appear with a May 30 Lee County court date.

Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists is pleased to announce and present their annual 2024 Rochelle Township High School Health & Wellness Scholarship to Kendall Sachs.

On May 8 at approximately 5:15 p.m. deputies, Illinois State Police, Monroe Center Fire Department, and Stillman Valley Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at Illinois Route 72 and Timberlane Drive, Davis Junction. Upon investigation, it was determined that the driver of a red Toyota, Darla Bradle, 77, of Davis Junction, was stopped, yielding to oncoming traffic to turn onto Timberlane Drive. At that time Andy Khouangsavahn, 44, of Byron, was traveling west on Illinois Route 72 in a black Nissan and struck the rear of the Toyota. Khouangsavahn was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Khouangsavahn was transported Swedish American Hospital for injuries.

Donald Eugene Huntley, 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at his home in Chana, Illinois. 

Barbara Price died on May 7, 2024, in Cary, IL. 

Junior midfielder Makayla Lara turned in a haul during the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer match against Pecatonica on Thursday evening, scoring four goals while adding two assists as the purple and white dominated the Indians for a 9-0 win in its season finale.

Richard D. Whaley, 71, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 surrounded by his family. 

May is Stroke Awareness Month. Rochelle Community Hospital has been designated as an Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital for several years and strives to see good outcomes for area patients that suffer strokes, RCH Emergency Services Manager Janis Astle said.

The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team faced a strong Illinois Math & Science Academy (IMSA) squad on Tuesday evening, conceding a 6-0 loss in nonconference play.

The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team continued to gain momentum on Monday, scoring a dominant win over Mendota as the Interstate 8 and IHSA Sectional tournaments near.

Fourteen years of dance will not be the end for Rochelle senior Addison Stewart, who has committed to continue her academics and her dance career at Concordia University Chicago.

2024 is off to a great start in Rochelle. Our team at the city is overseeing many projects and initiatives are transforming 2024 into one of our most productive years during my tenure.
