LOVES PARK — Senior Logan Ortega was the high roller for the Rochelle boys bowling team on Saturday, when the Hubs took 21st out of 24 schools in the Harlem Invitational at Forest Park Lanes. Rochelle totaled 4,641 pins over six team games.
Ortega shot a team-high 245 to lead Rochelle in the opening game before adding 215 and 158 to enter the second half of the competition with a 618 series. The senior ended the tournament with 166, 160 and 203 for a 529 series and a 1,147 six-game total. Ortega finished 44th out of nearly 200 bowlers in the competition.
Mendota
Rochelle bowled against the Mendota Trojans at the Elks Lodge on the road this past Tuesday, falling by a score of 3,315-2,525 to drop to 0-6 in match play this season. Logan Ortega rolled a team-high 536 series for the Hubs, while junior John Henson added 500 and freshman Maddex Ramos added 476 for the purple and white.
The Trojans claimed the first game 1,120-821 behind 278 from Luke Ross, who topped all players with a 703 series in the match. Taylor Joyce shot 224 before rolling 222 in the second game to help Mendota win 1,126-1,003 over Rochelle despite Henson’s 189 and Keith Holland’s 188. The Trojans swept the match by winning the third game 1,069-701.
