ROCHELLE — The Hubs freshman baseball team jumped above .500 to end the regular season on Friday, taking down the Sterling Golden Warriors by a score of 8-4 to improve to 9-8 on the season.
Kaleb Hess took the ball to start the game, overcoming six walks to strike out three batters and hold Sterling to three earned runs over five innings to pick up the victory. Gavin Ansteth pitched the final two innings, striking out three and giving up no hits or runs.
Hess led the Rochelle offense with two RBIs, while Ansteth went 2-for-4 with one RBI and Nick Albers notched a team-high three hits and drove in one run. Seth Gould went 2-for-3 at the dish, while Ethan Etes went 2-for-3 in the leadoff spot. Austin Greifenkamp scored one run.
