STREATOR — Lady Hub freshman Jordin Dickey made her varsity debut when the Rochelle girls tennis team faced Streator on the road Monday evening. Paired with junior Ruth Gardner, the two girls worked together at No. 3 doubles to win their match in three sets and claim their first varsity win of the season.
Dickey and Gardner split the first two sets with Streator’s Wendy Romero and Jennifer Romero before winning the tiebreaker and claiming the match by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 at No. 3 doubles. The Lady Hubs were competitive in every varsity doubles match on Monday, but Rochelle was unable to bring home the team victory, falling 4-1 to drop to 0-9 on the season.
Senior Jasmine Rissman took two games in her 2-6, 0-6 loss against Streator’s Yaminia DeLeon at No. 1 singles while junior Caitlin McMurray won one game in a 0-6, 1-6 defeat by Lyndsey Arevalo at No. 2 singles. Seniors Lila Roush and Ashlynn Leininger played a close match at No. 1 doubles, falling to Streator’s Lora Berry and Haley Berry 4-6, 3-6.
Freshmen Josie Lundquist and MeLisa Young hung in against Streator’s Alyssa Heilman and Aleaha Evans at No. 2 doubles, forcing a tiebreaker in the second set before falling 3-6, 5-7. Rochelle will play at Morris on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
