GENESEO — The Rochelle girls track and field team competed in the Northern Illinois Big 12 Varsity & Fresh-Soph Championships at Geneseo on Thursday. The Lady Hubs finished 10th with 14 points in the varsity meet while taking eighth with 23 points in the fresh-soph meet.
Varsity
Junior Angie Saldana placed 11th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.98 seconds while senior Abby Wagner finished 13th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:19.24. Senior Cam Turner took 17th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:52.20 and senior Katherine Bakken finished third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:54.65.
Senior Abby Tilton took eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.34 and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.89. Rochelle finished seventh in the 400-meter relay (Liberty Hayes, Grace Garcia, Kylee Brown and Angie Saldana) with a time of 55.03 and seventh in the 800-meter relay (Macey Ryan, Abby Tilton, Liberty Hayes, Teagan Meyers) with a time of 1:54.09. Rochelle’s 1600-meter relay team (Teagan Meyers, Abby Tilton, Angie Saldana, Macey Ryan) finished fifth with a time of 4:24.40.
Junior Gabrielle Harding placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 34-2 ½ while taking 10th in the discus with a mark of 83-6. Freshman Teagan Meyers took fifth in the high jump with a height of 4-8.
Fresh-Soph
Freshman Liberty Hayes placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.39 while freshman Shannon Harding took 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 33.31. Freshman Morgan West finished 18th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:30.71 and 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:21.43.
Freshmen Sara Johnson (21.18) and Alexis Bergeson (22.25) finished sixth and 10th in the 100-meter hurdles, respectively, while taking third (59.67) and seventh (1:04.35) in the 300-meter hurdles, respectively. Rochelle’s 400-meter relay team (Lucy Bunger, Ella McKinney, Shannon Harding and Maddie Ohlinger) placed eighth with a time of 1:01.20.
Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team (Lucy Bunger, Allie Tyrrell-Martin, Shannon Harding and Ella McKinney) took fifth with a time of 2:05.64. Junior Breanna Heisner placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 28-6 and sophomore Megan Thiravong finished 11th in the discus with a mark of 69-7. Freshman McKenna Erdman took fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 4-4 and Lucy Bunger placed 10th in the long jump with a mark of 13-1.
