ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs sophomore softball team is looking to end the season strong, with the girls picking up wins over the Plano Reapers and the Dixon Duchesses to improve to 4-14 overall with one game remaining.
Rochelle took down Plano on Monday by a score of 12-0, and the Lady Hubs returned to their home field Tuesday afternoon to defeat Dixon 9-7. The girls will end their season at East Moline on Friday when they face United Township.
Macy Luxton sparked the Rochelle offense on Monday, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with one triple and two doubles. Mandi Lamb took the mound for the Lady Hubs, shutting out the Reapers while holding them to zero hits. Rochelle committed zero errors in the victory.
Becca Bunger went 3-for-4 with a triple in the Lady Hubs’ win over Dixon on Tuesday, while Lamb went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double. Freshmen Erin Decker and Hannah Luxton gave the sophomore team a big boost, with Luxton going 2-for-3 at the plate and Decker going 2-for-4 while picking up the win on the pitcher’s mound.
