The Lady Hubs varsity track and field team won the Oregon Landers-Loomis Invitational for the second consecutive season on Friday, when the Rochelle girls walked away with first place after scoring 121 points. Winnebago placed second with 107 points and Alleman took third with 67.

OREGON — The Lady Hubs varsity track and field team won the Oregon Landers-Loomis Invitational for the second consecutive season on Friday, when the Rochelle girls walked away with first place after scoring 121 points. Winnebago placed second with 107 points and Alleman took third with 67.

Rochelle opened the meet by taking first place in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 10:56.75 behind junior Cam Turner, senior Hannah Cruz, sophomore Emma Smith and senior Morgan Baker. The Lady Hubs followed with a victory in the 400-meter relay, setting a new meet record with a time of 50.67 seconds behind seniors Cesca Vardman, Jacie Wyatt, Morgan Knight and sophomore Macey Ryan.

Junior Katherine Bakken took third place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:14.88, and sophomore Britney Baez finished fifth in 13:45.34. Junior Abby Tilton placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.04, while junior Cheyene Watson took eighth with a time of 18.87.

Three Rochelle runners earned top-6 spots in the 100-meter dash, with Vardman finishing sixth (13.62), Knight taking fifth (13.57) and Ryan placing third (13.03). Smith led the Lady Hubs in the 800-meter run, finishing 10th with a time of 2:47.54 while Turner placed 11th (2:48.10). Rochelle won the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:50.95 behind Vardman, freshman Sofia Lenkaitis, Ryan and Baker.

Wyatt led three top-5 finishers for Rochelle in the 400-meter dash, taking first with a time of 1:00.76 while Knight placed second (1:03.55) and sophomore Katie Van Hise finished fifth (1:07.37). Tilton took second place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.63, and Lenkaitis finished eighth (55.29).

Bakken took third place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:44.16 and Cruz placed seventh in 5:58.63. Wyatt finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.73, and Wyatt was one of three top-5 finishers in the event, with Ryan taking fourth place (27.73) and Vardman landing in fifth place (28.15).

The Lady Hubs won the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:15.67 behind Knight, Tilton, Lenkaitis and Baker. In the field events, sophomore Gabrielle Harding finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 101-3, and she placed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 32-4 ¼. Senior Allysa Harding took sixth in the discus throw (95-2), and Wyatt took third place in the high jump with a clearance of 4-8.

Rochelle’s next track and field meet is at Kaneland with DeKalb and West Aurora on Monday, April 23 at 4:30 p.m.
