ROCHELLE — The Police took advantage of 12 walks by Freeport pitchers en route to a 12-0 shutout win on Wednesday night at home.
Rochelle’s Jr. League Police team scored three runs in the first inning and eight more runs in the second inning to take a commanding lead, as Freeport struggled to throw strikes and make plays in the field.
The only three Police hits came in the second inning on singles by Grant Thompson, Kyler Lara and Justin Beck. Lara had three RBIs on the night, while Trevor Goodwin and Nate Askeland both drove home two runs, while Beck scored three times in the game for Police.
Nolan Morrissette started on the mound for Rochelle and tossed three innings of scoreless ball, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out four en route to the win. Freeport hitters. Ethan Albers pitched one frame in relief, giving up just a walk and fanning one hitter.
