The Rochelle Rays recorded their first victory of the season on Thursday, when the swimmers defeated the Genoa Gators by a combined score of 575-224. The Rochelle boys totaled 295 points to Genoa’s 144, while the Rochelle girls logged 280 points over Genoa’s 80. Rochelle’s next home meet will be against the Huntley Stingrays on Thursday, July 12.

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Rays recorded their first victory of the season on Thursday, when the swimmers defeated the Genoa Gators by a combined score of 575-224. The Rochelle boys totaled 295 points to Genoa’s 144, while the Rochelle girls logged 280 points over Genoa’s 80. Rochelle’s next home meet will be against the Huntley Stingrays on Thursday, July 12.

Alison Ohlinger and Riley Wiegartz set new Spring Lake Pool records during Thursday’s meet against Genoa. Ohlinger broke the 11-12 girls mark in the 50-yard backstroke set by Dana Howard in 2001, clocking in at 39.10 seconds. Wiegartz broke his own record from 2017 in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 56.47.

“We swam an excellent meet on Thursday,” head coach Marianne Swanson said. “The miles and hard work the swimmers are putting in at practice are really showing. We need to continue working on our starts and faster turns and transitions. The wall is meant to gain advantage in a race, not rest.”

8U Girls

Tess Kissack, Jillian Bruns, Josie Slattengren and Rowan Thompson completed the 100-meter medley relay with a time of 2:09.37 for first place. Bruns placed second in the 25-yard freestyle with a time of 21.59, while Kissack took third in 26.93. Kissack finished first in the 25-yard breaststroke with a time of 29.12 and Bruns placed second in 29.31.

Bruns finished first in the 100-yard intermediate medley with a time of 2:18.99 and the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 34.20. Slattengren placed second in the 25-yard backstroke (34.82) and Maggie Louis took third (34.99). Slattengren finished first in the 25-yard butterfly with a time of 44.12. Rochelle’s 100-yard freestyle relay of Bruns, Slattengren, Mary Craven and Kissack finished first with a time of 1:59.91.

8U Boys

Bo Lundquist, Jace Spears, Joah Horner and Dayton Mellor finished first in the 100-yard medley relay with a time of 2:21.30. Horner finished first in the 25-yard freestyle with a time of 23.05 while Lundquist placed second in 23.91. Horner took third in the 25-yard breaststroke with a time of 34.21 and first in the 100-yard intermediate medley with a time of 2:26.80.

Lundquist finished first in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 31.50 while Mellor placed second in 33.00 and Landon Ege took third in 37.33. Lundquist, Spears, Mellor and Horner won the 100-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:53.00.

9-10 Girls

Mary Chadwick, Cambrey Rodeghero, Roxy Taft and Reese Kissack finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 3:51.00. Meredith Bruns finished first in the 25-yard freestyle with a time of 18.79 while Taft placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (43.92) and Leiya Smith took third (49.21). Bruns finished first in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.80 and Rodeghero placed second in 57.87.

Mackayla Downing finished first in the 100-yard intermediate medley with a time of 2:37.74. Taft finished first in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 25.35 while Grace Montes placed second in 27.48. Smith won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.32, and Taft won the 25-yard butterfly with a time of 24.01. Montes, Rodeghero, Taft and Chadwick placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:30.53.

9-10 Boys

Owen Carmichael, Bryson Stewart, Parker Slattengren and Nolan Johnson finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 4:10.77. Slattengren finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 46.01 while Carmichael placed second in 47.60 and Van Gerber took third in 48.95. Gerber won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.20 and Carmichael placed second with a time of 1:08.93.

Slattengren finished first in the 100-yard intermediate medley with a time of 2:14.73 while Carmichael placed second with a time of 2:35.28. Slattengren finished first in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 29.55 and Gerber placed second in 30.75. Carmichael took second in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.25. Slattengren, Carmichael, Gerber and Johnson won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:14.80.

11-12 Girls

Alison Ohlinger, Natalie Wagner, Emma Kennay and Erin Murphy finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 3:01.84. Ohlinger finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 34.40 while Kendyl Darby took third with a time of 37.50. Ohlinger also won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 46.47 while Darby placed third in 51.63.

Ohlinger finished first in the 100-yard intermediate medley with a time of 1:27.85 while Kennay placed second in 1:45.58 and Wagner took third in 1:47.38. Kennay placed second in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 43.08, and Rochelle’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kennay, Wagner, Murphy and Ohlinger finished first with a time of 2:48.13.

11-12 Boys

Parker Lenkaitis, Owen Haas, Jack Lodico and Jordan Spears finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 3:04.36. Haas finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 33.42 while Lodico placed second in 33.60. Haas also won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 45.63 while Lodico took second in 47.30.

Haas finished first in the 100-yard intermediate medley with a time of 1:31.52 while Lodico placed second in 1:32.90 and Spears took third in 1:53.28. Caleb Johnson finished first in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 56.70 and Christopher Rittschof placed second in 59.02 while Liam Wise took third in 1:18.46.

Haas finished first in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 42.46 and Lodico took second in 46.03. Rochelle’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Haas, Rittschof, Spears and Lodico won with a time of 2:35.10.

13-14 Girls

Baylie Sutton, Sara Johnson, Olivia Sergeant and Anna Harvey placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:43.80. Sylvia Hasz placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 33.67 while Regan Underwood took third with a time of 33.90. Johnson finished first in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 44.33 while Adeline Morrissette placed second in 44.60 and Underwood took third in 45.10.

Johnson finished first in the 100-yard intermediate medley with a time of 1:29.90 while Hasz placed second in 1:30.87 and Sergeant took third in 1:31.35. Johnson won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 40.48 while Mireya Montes placed second in 43.22 and McKenna Montes took third in 43.23. Hasz won the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 39.40, and Rochelle’s 200-yard freestyle relay group of Johnson, Sergeant, Hasz and Harvey won with a time of 2:19.80.

13-14 Boys

Luke Orlikowski took third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 35.93. Max Orlikowski took third in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 55.10 while David Gerber finished fourth with a time of 1:02.84. Gerber won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 49.97 and Luke Orlikowski won the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 46.26. Rochelle’s 200-yard freestyle relay group of Max Orlikowski, Jason Horner, David Gerber and Luke Orlikowski won with a time of 2:34.44.

15-18 Girls

Maggie Dall, Abby Wagner, Claudia Casey and Adelyn Paul placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:42.31. Grace Orlikowski placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:14.01 while Wagner finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:26.92 and the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:22.50.

Wagner also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:37.59. Rochelle’s 200-yard freestyle relay group of Orlikowski, Alexis Sanford, Harvey and Sergeant placed second with a time of 2:25.08.

15-18 Boys

David Peterson, Paul Davis, Riley Wiegartz and Baxter Konstans finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:11.40. David placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:04.46 while Peterson took third in 1:07.20. Wiegartz won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.00 with David placing second (1:18.03) and Peterson taking third (1:28.60).

Peterson finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:27.18 and Tucker Louis placed second in 1:29.03 while Davis took third in 1:30.41. Wiegartz won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.94 and Rochelle’s 200-yard freestyle relay group of Davis, Peterson, Konstans and Wiegartz won with a time of 1:55.13.
