Rochelle Lady Hub softball player Kendal Ansteth has signed to continue her academics and her athletics with Kishwaukee College next year. A two-time Interstate 8 Academic All-Conference honoree, Ansteth plans to study nursing in hopes of becoming a labor and delivery nurse.

“I chose Kishwaukee College because it’s close to home and I plan on applying for their nursing program next semester,” Ansteth said. “I think playing for the Kishwaukee College softball program will be a new experience for me. I hope that I can be a good asset to the team.”

Ansteth spent four years with the Rochelle Township High School softball program including three years as a catcher with the varsity team. Despite losing her junior season due to COVID-19 cancellations, Ansteth stepped up during her senior season this year, hitting .306 with a .390 on-base percentage and a .429 slugging percentage. Ansteth finished fourth on the Lady Hubs with 15 hits while tying for first with six doubles and ranking second with 13 RBIs.

“I think playing travel softball has really helped me throughout my career,” said Ansteth, who plays for the Express Fastpitch travel program. “We face a lot of tough teams and I’ve learned a lot from my coaches. I hope that I can bring fun and positivity to my new teammates.”
