WEST DUNDEE — Ailani Thiravong cruised to a victory in the local Drive, Chip & Putt Championship competition at Mundelein’s Pine Meadow Golf Club this past month, and the 8-year-old standout had no trouble proving her worth at the subregional level this past weekend.
After scoring 49 points to win the local tournament, Thiravong nearly doubled her output to win the 7-9 girls division title in the subregional competition at Randall Oaks Golf Club. Thiravong’s 92 points were 36 more than runner-up finisher Piper Stenzel, and both girls will advance to the regional at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Also taking the field was Lady Hub freshman Megan Thiravong, who qualified third out of the local competition in Mundelein. Thiravong finished with 31 points in the 14-15 girls division.
