ROCHELLE — For the last several years, Rochelle Township High School and the Rochelle News-Leader have partnered to offer the annual Rochelle News-Leader Scholar-Athlete Awards, which are normally presented during the school year to two recent alums, one male and one female, who demonstrated academic and athletic excellence throughout their time as high school student-athletes. With an interest in offering greater opportunities for the RTHS student-athletes who’ve dedicated their time to achieving high standards in academics and athletics for the last four years, the Rochelle News-Leader will be presenting the 2021-22 Scholar-Athlete Awards in the form of two $500 scholarships. These cash scholarships will be presented to two graduating senior student-athletes during the RTHS Honors Night on May 2. The Rochelle News-Leader is excited to offer these scholarships to senior student-athletes looking to further their education and possibly their athletic careers at the college level.
The Rochelle News-Leader will select two winners for the $500 cash scholarships, one male and one female, who’ve demonstrated high standards in academics and athletics at RTHS. Winners will be selected from applications that are submitted in full. Applications are free to submit and can be completed by either student-athletes or their parents/guardians. The deadline for submitting applications to the RTHS Counseling Center office will be Friday, April 15 at 5 p.m.
