ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity basketball team saw two student-athletes receive First-Team All-Conference recognition from the Interstate 8 this season. Seniors Zoey Tabor and Josie Lundquist each earned First-Team honors for the first time in their careers.

Tabor and Lundquist each finished their RTHS careers as four-year varsity players. A former All-Conference Honorable Mention from the Northern Illinois Big 12 during her freshman season, Tabor averaged 5.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals this winter.

“I’m very proud of myself and I’m happy to see my hard work pay off,” Tabor said. “I felt like I improved most on the defensive side of the floor. I was able to move more fluently and I communicated better which helped my teammates too. I enjoyed how competitive we were and we competed against schools that we hadn’t been able to compete with in the past.”

Lundquist received the Coach’s Award for the Lady Hubs this season, leading the team with 69 made field goals and ranking second on the team with a 6.8 scoring average. Lundquist also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals this winter, finishing third on the team with 107 rebounds.

“It’s an awesome feeling,” Lundquist said. “It shows that the hard work I put in was worth it and I’m really proud of myself. I thought I showed more leadership and I think that’s something that all of the girls who were nominated for All-Conference honors have. I thought my all-around game improved as well and I was more confident in myself and what I could bring to the team.”

Rochelle went 15-17 overall and finished fourth in the Interstate 8 with a 7-7 record this winter. Tabor and Lundquist are two of the six seniors who will depart from the varsity basketball team.
