Girls Soccer: Kaneland shuts out Lady Hubs in IHSA 2A Regional Semifinals

Knights score all goals in first half to down Rochelle 10-0


MAPLE PARK — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer team faced a talented Kaneland squad in the IHSA 2A Regional Semifinals on Tuesday. The second-seeded Knights had no trouble with the seventh-seeded Lady Hubs, scoring all of their goals in the first half and cruising 10-0 over Rochelle. The Lady Hubs finished the season with a 2-11-1 overall record with the loss.

Kaneland shut Rochelle down on the defensive side, holding the Lady Hubs without a single shot or corner kick in the semifinal matchup. The Knights totaled 25 shots and 17 shots on goal along with eight corner kicks. Kaneland opened the match with the early lead, scoring goals in the first and ninth minutes before adding four more goals over a six-minute time span.

Leading 6-0, Kaneland sealed its regional win with goals in the 26th, 31st, 35th and 36th minutes. Freshman Danica Ward recorded seven saves in net for the Lady Hubs in the regional loss.
