STILLMAN VALLEY — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer team dropped its second straight match to open the 2024 season on Monday, falling in a 5-0 shutout against Stillman Valley. Senior Danica Ward recorded 28 saves for the Lady Hubs (0-2, 0-0 Interstate 8), who will continue nonconference action with a road match against Mendota on Tuesday evening.
Junior Makayla Lara led the Rochelle offense with four shots and two shots on goal. Stillman Valley took control of the match early in the first half, scoring in the ninth and 28th minutes to command a 2-0 lead over the Lady Hubs. The Cardinals clinched their win with three second-half goals. Sophomore Evi Mendez chipped in one shot on goal for the Rochelle side.
Harlem
The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer team kicked off the 2024 season with a road match against Harlem on Thursday, falling 8-1 to the Huskies in nonconference action. The Lady Hubs (0-1, 0-0 Interstate 8) trailed 6-1 at halftime.
