The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity tennis team took its first loss of the season on Tuesday, falling 5-0 against Morris in Interstate 8 Conference competition and moving to 2-1 on the season. Rochelle will return for a home match against DeKalb on Wednesday.

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity tennis team took its first loss of the season on Tuesday, falling 5-0 against Morris in Interstate 8 Conference competition and moving to 2-1 on the season. Rochelle will return for a home match against DeKalb on Wednesday.

Seniors Emma Hicks and Madison Ost battled on the singles courts, with Hicks falling 0-6, 0-6 against Grace Lines at No. 1 singles and Ost earning four games in a 2-6, 2-6 loss against Libby Wright at No. 2 singles. Seniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young took the first set in their No. 1 doubles match with Liz Kenney and Gretchen Zarbock before falling 6-3, 0-6, 1-6.

Seniors Josie Lundquist and Megan Thompson claimed four games at No. 2 doubles, losing 2-6, 2-6 against Olivia Moore and Kayla Walker. Seniors Ashley Knight and Ella McKinney hung tough at No. 3 doubles, falling short in a 4-6, 3-6 loss to Faith Bogard and Keira Kjellesvik.

Guilford JV

The Rochelle Lady Hub tennis team saw several JV netters perform well in a four-team meet with DeKalb, Hampshire and Rockford Guilford on Saturday. Junior Abby Tarvestad finished in first place at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Elin Zheng took first place at No. 2 singles.

Senior Liberty Hayes and junior Torrin Nantz placed second at No. 1 doubles, while senior Ella Seebach and junior Marisa Whaley finished second at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Allison Dickey and freshman Kitty Williams took second at No. 3 doubles to round out the lineup.
