The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team opened the indoor season at the Sycamore Invitational on Tuesday. The varsity team finished eighth out of 10 schools with 33 points and the junior varsity team placed fifth out of 10 schools with 45 points in the meet. The next indoor meet for the Lady Hubs will be the Byron Indoor Preview on Saturday, March 12.

Varsity Lady Hubs finish ninth, JV team takes fifth

SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team opened the indoor season at the Sycamore Invitational on Tuesday. The varsity team finished eighth out of 10 schools with 33 points and the junior varsity team placed fifth out of 10 schools with 45 points in the meet. The next indoor meet for the Lady Hubs will be the Byron Indoor Preview on Saturday, March 12.

Varsity

Sophomore Kylie Smith, freshman Alex Neece, freshman Zoe White and senior Teagan Meyers combined to finish fourth in the 640-meter relay with a time of 1:38.54. Smith took ninth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.66 seconds and junior Macy Ramos finished 14th with a time of 9.54 seconds. Junior Yuelma Ortiz took fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:18.52.

Meyers placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.25 and the foursome of White, Ortiz, sophomore McKenna Cook and Smith finished fifth in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 5:12.33. Senior Sylvia Hasz took 10th in the shot put with a distance of 7.48 meters and sophomore Olivia Dreska placed 12th with a distance of 6.65 meters. Meyers finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.47 meters and Hasz took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 3.79 meters. Meyers placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.04 meters.

JV

Sophomore Kennedy Adamski, sophomore Evelyn Gonzalez, senior Sylvia Hasz and junior Macy Ramos teamed up for fourth in the 640-meter relay with a time of 1:47.29. Freshman Alex Neece finished first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 12.17 seconds and freshman Zoe White took fourth with a time of 13.09 seconds. Gonzalez placed sixth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 9.17 seconds and White finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:24.54.

Sophomore McKenna Cook took fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:22.56 and junior Aarchi Sorathia placed 10th with a time of 1:37.59. Neece finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 33.15 and Adamski took eighth with a time of 34.71.
