ROCKFORD — The Rochelle Wrestling Club battled at the Rockford Bad Boys Open on Monday. Seven competitors participated in the meet, with three kids earning first-place finishes.
Nehemiah Andronic finished first in the 503 Tots Division bracket with a 2-0 record. Andronic recorded two pins against St. Charles’ Hawkins Edgcomb and Huntley’s Alexander Martinez.
Dominic Escatel took first in the 412 Bantam Division bracket with a 3-0 record. Escatel began the tournament with a fall over Belvidere’s Finley Lowrance before scoring two more fall victories over Woodstock’s Drake Zimmerman and Harlem’s Ty Haese to win the bracket.
Zachary Johnson placed first in the 711 Novice Division bracket with a 3-0 record. Johnson pinned Dundee’s Austin Slocum in the opening round before edging North Boone’s Zachary Slater with a 7-6 decision. Johnson won by fall over Belvidere’s Henry Haggerty for the title.
Elias Andronic finished third in the 606 Tots Division bracket with a 1-2 record that included a fall over St. Charles’ Easton Adamson. Axel Alsop took third in the 102 Novice Division bracket with a 1-2 record that included a fall over North Boone’s Aiden Perry.
Two Rochelle wrestlers placed fourth in their respective brackets including Garrett Miller and Chase Marruffo.
