OTTAWA — The Rochelle Hub varsity wrestling team battled the Ottawa Pirates in Interstate 8 Conference competition Thursday evening, winning 43-30 and improving to 12-1 on the season. The Hubs will host Oregon and Fulton this weekend.
Tommy Tourdot totaled two takedowns and three near falls before pinning Alberto Villareal to win the 106-pound bout. Riley Damask took a forfeit at 113 pounds and Ivan Pineda scored four takedowns in his 9-1 major decision over Landon Marx are 120 pounds.
Grant Thompson won the 138-pound bout with a pin and Caleb Nadig followed with a 20-5 technical fall against Hunter Wilson at 145 pounds. Despite trailing 27-12 in the match, Ottawa scored 18 straight points with a forfeit win at 152 pounds and pins at 160 pounds and 170 pounds.
Ben Harvey put the Hubs back in the lead during the 182-pound bout, defeating Charles Medrow with a 14-2 major decision behind five takedowns and a near fall.After a double forfeit at 195 pounds, Noah Messer received a forfeit at 220 pounds and Jaden Cook sealed the Rochelle victory with a pin to win the 285-pound matchup.
