Christie Cox, a local deputy coroner and funeral director, has officially announced her candidacy for Ogle County coroner.

Irene M. Thomas, 85, of Ashton, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her home in Ashton, IL surrounded by her loving family.

Anna Marie Loan, age 66, passed away on December 24, 2023 at her home.

Betty Jean (Eckhardt) Baker passed away at the age of 95 on December 15, 2023 at Patriot Place in Berlin, WI., after a long battle with dementia.

On Jan. 2 at 1:53 a.m. deputies, with the assistance of Illinois State Police, conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 39 southbound and Illinois Route 64. After a brief investigation, Keion Anderson, 27, of Sycamore, was arrested for driving while license suspended. Anderson was released with a notice to appear with a future court date. Anderson was also issued citations for expired registration and inoperable registration light.

On Jan. 2 at 6:36 p.m. Salvador Milan, 38, of Rochelle was cited for no insurance. He signed a promise to comply and was given a Feb. 2 Rochelle court date.
