Police Reports

On March 21 at approximately 4:29 p.m. deputies were advised of a black Ford Focus driving all over North Illinois Route 26 south of Forreston. They then learned the Ford struck a mailbox in the 3,000 block of North Illinois Route 26 before coming to a stop in the ditch. After an investigation, it was learned that the female driver was having a medical episode, which caused the crash. The driver was uninjured from the collision. The driver was transported to an area hospital for her medical issues. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Polo Fire and EMS and Forreston Police Department. 

On March 21 at 7:17 a.m. Michael Schmitt, 42, of Rochelle was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 25 Rochelle court date.

On March 18 at 7:06 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 13,000 block of East Illinois Route 64. After an investigation, Justin E. Johnson, 34, of Dixon was arrested for driving while license suspended, and an active Lee County warrant for failure to appear. Johnson was also issued citations for operating and uninsured motor vehicle, and no front registration. Johnson was released on a notice to appear with a return court date for the warrant, and driving while license suspended.

On March 18 at 3:07 a.m. De Mazz A. Reyes, 23, of Rochelle was cited for expired registration and no insurance. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 25 Rochelle court date.

On March 14 at about 6:41 p.m. deputies with the assistance of the Byron Police Department, responded to an address in the 10,000 block of North Kennedy Hill Road for an attempted break in. After an investigation, deputies arrested Torrin Alanis, 20, of Poplar Grove; Kassidy Clark, 19, of Rockford; Olivia Fells, 19, of Poplar Grove; Ashton Pierce, 18, of Poplar Grove; and Caleb McKie, 23, of Clarksville, Tennessee for burglary. Alanis, Clark, Fells, and Pierce were transported to the Ogle County Jail and released with a notice to appear. McKie was additionally charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. McKie was held pending an appear before a judge.

On March 12 at 10:49 a.m. Ronald L. King, 73, of Rochelle was cited for speeding 67 in a 45 miles per hour zone. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 4 Rochelle court date.

On March 11 at 8:59 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2,000 block of North Illinois Route 2. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested passenger Jeremiah J. Martin, 36, of Oregon on two Ogle County warrants (failure to appear for driving while license suspended and driving while license revoked), and a Winnebago County warrant (failure to appear for driving while license revoked). Martin was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance. Martin was released on a notice to appear on the possession of a controlled substance charge, and lodged on the outstanding warrants in the Ogle County Jail. The driver, Debbarh N. Messenger, of Oregon was issued citations for operating a motor vehicle with registration suspended/mandatory insurance, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

On March 12 at 10:49 a.m. Ronald L. King, 73, of Rochelle was cited for speeding 67 in a 45 miles per hour zone. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 4 Rochelle court date.

On March 8 at approximately 1:13 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 17,000 block of East Illinois Route 64. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Deon R. Body, 30, of Rockford for driving while license suspended. Additionally, Body was issued citations for speeding and expired registration. Body was issued a notice to appear with a future court date.

On March 7 at 8:01 a.m. Quevasha B. Martin, 32, of DeKalb was cited for speeding and no insurance. She signed a promise to comply and was given an April 4 Rochelle court date.

On March 5 at approximately 8:20 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 14,000 block of East Lindenwood Road. After investigation, deputies placed Christopher McGill, 40, of Rochelle, under arrest for driving while license suspended. McGill was also issued a citation for operating a vehicle with suspended registration. McGill was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On March 4 at 9:09 a.m. Timothy Rathledge, 54, of Forreston was cited for overweight axle. He was released on a notice to appear with an April 4 Rochelle court date.

On Feb. 28 at approximately 11:15 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 14,000 block of West Sterling Road. After an investigation, deputies placed James Fowler, 22, of Freeport, under arrest for an Ogle County failure to appear warrant. Fowler was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. 

At 4:39 a.m. Maria D. Lopez Lopez, 31, of Rochelle was cited for failure to give notice of an accident and leaving the scene of an accident. She signed a promise to comply and was given a March 31 Rochelle court date.

On Feb. 25 at approximately 1:23 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1,000 block of East Illinois Route 72.  After investigation deputies placed Ethan Rogers, 55, of Leaf River, under arrest for driving while license revoked. Rogers was additionally issued a citation for operating an uninsured vehicle.  Rogers was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On Feb. 25 at 1:14 a.m. Israel Centeno, 41, of DeKalb was cited for speeding 80 in a 55 miles per hour zone. He signed a promise to comply and was given a March 21 Rochelle court date.

On Feb. 23 at approximately 12:10 a.m. deputies conducted traffic stop in the 13,000 block West Sterling Road. After a brief investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile was placed under arrest for no valid driver’s license after curfew. The juvenile was additionally cited for speeding and released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On Feb. 21 at 8:13 a.m. Kelly L. Olson, 44, of Rochelle was cited for speeding 70 in a 45 miles per hour zone. She signed a promise to comply and was given a March 21 Rochelle court date.

On Feb. 16 at approximately 11:15 a.m. deputies were advised of a disturbance that had occurred earlier in the morning near 3125 S. Stone Hill Road in rural Chana. After investigation, deputies placed a 17- year-old male juvenile under arrest for aggravated battery. The male juvenile was released to an adult per the parents’ permission. Stephanie Smith, 38, of Rochelle, was also placed under arrest for contributing to criminal delinquency of a minor. Smith was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On Feb. 17 at 9:43 p.m. Ailin Lopez Carmell, 19, of Rockford was cited for use of an electronic communications device. She signed a promise to comply and was given a March 21 Rochelle court date.

On Feb. 14 at approximately 7:54 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of East Illinois Route 38 and South East Line Road for a two-vehicle collision. After investigation, deputies placed Jeffrey Holznagel, 61, of Rochelle, under arrest for driving with license expired more than a year. Holznagel was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On Feb. 13 at 10:26 p.m. Joaquin Bahena-Medina, 40, of Rochelle was cited for use of electronic communications device. He signed a promise to comply and was given a March 7 Rochelle court date.

On Feb. 11 at approximately 9:05 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 6,000 block West Lowell Park Road.  After investigation, deputies placed Timothy Reeverts, 41, of Oregon under arrest for driving while license suspended.  Reeverts was released on a notice to appear at the scene and given a future court date.

On Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. Justin Myers, 36, of Rochelle was arrested for violation of child murderer & violent offender against youth registration act and transferred.

On Feb. 7 at approximately 6:54 p.m. deputies assisted a motorist in the 17,000 block of East Illinois Route 38.  After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Ashley Ann Martinez, 30, of Rochelle for possession of drug paraphernalia.  Martinez was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was given a notice to appear with a future court date.
