Police Reports

On July 26 at 7:41 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on North Walnut Street and West 2nd Street in Byron. As a result, deputies arrested Francisco Esquivel-Cruz, 54, of Loves Park for driving while license revoked. Francisco-Cruz was additionally issued a citation for operation of a vehicle with registration suspended. Francisco-Cruz was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On July 23 at 5:01 a.m. Alejandro Ortega-Sanchez, 48, of Malta was cited for speeding. He signed a promise to comply and was given an Aug. 16 Rochelle court date.

On July 18 at approximately 2:53 p.m., deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Ridge Road and Oregon Trail Road. Upon an investigation it was determined that a blue Audi A4 being driven by Jon Taylor Peterson, 21, of Maple Valley, Washington was traveling west on Oregon Trail Road and failed to yield the right of way at the intersection to a black Toyota Venza traveling north on Ridge Road. The Toyota was being driven by Judith A. Tatlock, 70, of Oregon. No injuries were being reported by either party involved in the accident and both refused medical attention at the scene. Peterson was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

On July 18 at 4:52 p.m. Juan C. Solano, 56, of Rochelle was cited for changing lanes without signal. He was released on a notice to appear with an Aug. 16 Rochelle court date.

On July 15 at 5:49 a.m. Jan P. Torres Lopez, 27, of Joliet was cited for speeding. He signed a promise to comply and was given an Aug. 16 Rochelle court date.

On July 16 at approximately 9:49 p.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Illinois Route 26 and Illinois Route 64. After investigation, deputies learned the driver, Jeffrey Decker, 53, of Lombard, was traveling westbound in his maroon Mazda SUV on Illinois Route 64.  Decker then traveled through the stop sign at the T-intersection of Illinois Route 26 and continued off the roadway before striking an embankment and going airborne before coming to rest. Decker was checked out on scene by Polo EMS and transported to KSB Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Decker was also issued citations for disobeying a traffic control device, seat belt violation, and operating an uninsured vehicle.  Polo officers and Mt. Morris officers assisted with the accident.

On July 13 at 10:04 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the area of 100 E. Cedarholm St., Creston for the report of a pedestrian being struck by a passing vehicle. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Christian Stanbery, 22, of Creston, for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while license suspended. Stanbery was transported to the Ogle County Jail to be processed where he was additionally charged with aggravated DUI. Stanbery was released on a notice to appear court date Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. The pedestrian refused EMS and had minor injuries. Stanbery was additionally cited for expired registration and operating uninsured motor vehicle.

On July 12 at 1:30 a.m. James Poe, 28, of Rochelle was cited for speeding 57 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone. He signed a promise to comply and was given an Aug. 16 Rochelle court date.

On July 9 at 11:11 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Straddle Creek Road just west of North Brookville Road (Carroll County), for an equipment violation that occurred in the 15,000 block of West White Eagle Road (Ogle County). As a result, deputies arrested Juan P. Anguiano, 44, of Clinton, Iowa for driving with no valid driver's license. Anguiano was additionally issued a citation for no muffler. Anguiano was released on scene with a notice to appear with a future court date.

On July 8 at 9:01 p.m. Wendy B. Bell, 54, of Creston was cited for expired registration. She signed a promise to comply and was given an Aug. 16 Rochelle court date.

On July 3 at 9:48 p.m. deputies, assisted by Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department, responded to a three-vehicle accident in the 13,500 block of East Illinois Route 72. After a brief investigation it was determined a Ford F-150, driven by Mary Burriell, 35, of Rochelle, with three juveniles, struck the rear of a Hyundai Ioniq, driven by Ronald Kayser, 75, of Winnebago, with three juveniles and one adult passenger, which then struck the rear of a Tesla driven by Timothy Aulner, 48, of Rockford, with one juvenile passenger. All occupants were assessed by EMS and refused treatment. Burriell was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

On June 28 at 5:12 p.m. Billy J. Wilcox, 56, of DeKalb was arrested for driving while license revoked and cited for suspended registration. He signed a promise to comply and was given a July 26 Rochelle court date.

On June 25, Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a gray Ford Edge in the 12,000 block of N. Baileyville Road. 

On June 28, Rochelle Police cited Keith R. Holland, 44, Rochelle, for suspended registration. Holland signed a promise to comply and a court date is set for July 26.

On June 25 at approximately 1:30 a.m. deputies arrived in the 200 block of Mulberry Lane in rural Dixon regarding a reported domestic battery. After an initial investigation, deputies placed Christopher K. Valdivieso, 32, of Dixon, under arrest for domestic battery. Valdivieso was transported to the Ogle County Jail and was held pending an appearance before a judge.

On June 25 at 11:17 a.m. Charles L. Coss, 75, of Crystal Lake was cited for overweight axle. He was released on a notice to appear with a July 26 Rochelle court date.

On June 18 at about 6 a.m. the Ogle County Special Operations Unit, with the assistance of the Northwest Illinois Critical Incident Response Team, Stillman Fire, Rochelle Fire, REACT, and MD1 executed a search warrant at 439 S. White Rock Road in Chana. Upon completion of the search, the Ogle County Special Operations Unit seized 111 grams of a substance containing cocaine, three firearms, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition of various calibers. The owner of this residence, Scott I. Nelson, was subsequently arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver 100-400 grams, a class-X felony; and three counts of possession of a firearm without a FOID, a class-A misdemeanor.  Nelson was transported to the Ogle County Jail, appeared in court on June 20, and was released.

On June 21 at 9:16 a.m. Jeffrey A. Frye, 68, of Rochelle was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. He signed a promise to comply and was given a July 5 Ogle County court date.

On June 18 at approximately 10:54 p.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of North Illinois Route 2 and Mud Creek Road for a registration violation. Upon further investigation, deputies arrested Ryan Klotz, 39, of Rockford, for driving while license revoked. Ryan was released on a notice to appear with a future court date given.

On June 18 at 6:58 p.m. Alvaro E. Mireles, 61, of Rochelle was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County warrant and transferred.

On June 14 at 11:40 a.m. deputies responded to 7,000 Block of East Grist Mill Road for a check welfare. Upon arrival at the residence, deputies were met by several aggressive dogs that began attacking them. At that point, the homeowner, later identified as Richard L. Eraas, 62, of Chana, emerged from the garage and started to yell at deputies. Eraas lunged at and attacked one of the deputies. Eraas was taken into custody and transported to the Ogle County Jail. Eraas was given a notice to appear for aggravated battery to a police officer. Eraas was released with a court date on July 3 at 9 a.m. Oregon Fire/EMS assisted the Ogle County Sheriff's Office.

On June 14 at 10:20 a.m. Kaleb D. Ackland, 23, of West Brooklyn was cited for overweight on gross. He was issued a notice to appear with a July 12 Rochelle court date.

On June 11 at approximately 6:45 p.m. deputies received a complaint of a possible battery which had occurred within the 1,000 block of South Lowell Park Road. The alleged battery stemmed from a road-rage incident. At approximately 6:58 p.m. deputies located two motorcycles involved in the incident near the intersection of Fourth Street and Washington Street in Oregon. A traffic stop was initiated, and after further investigation the driver of one of the motorcycles, Terry Cushing, 42, of Rock Falls, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended. Cushing was also cited for violation of license classification.  The driver of the other motorcycle, Joshua Kobbeman, 42, of Tampico, was cited for improper display of registration. Cushing was released at the scene on a notice to appear.

On June 11 at 11:37 a.m. Kenneth W. Ewenson, 63, of Wilmington was cited for overweight on scale. He was released on a notice to appear with a July 12 Rochelle court date.

On June 7 at 10:55 p.m. Pedro R. Basulto, 40, of DeKalb was arrested for possession of controlled substance. He was released on a notice to appear with a July 12 Ogle County court date.
